Concussion Education: Concussions – Diagnosis and Treatment Protocol and the Play It safe Insurance program
In an effort to educate all of our San Juan Athletes and parents for all ages, and in conjunction with our Storelli Protective Headgear partnership, the San Juan Board is hosting an event on Concussion Injuries and treatment protocol as well as a panel discussion for questions and answers with current San Juan Athletes who have experienced them. This is a great opportunity to learn from a leading expert in the field so every athlete and parent is well informed.
Dr. Jeffrey Tanji – UC Davis Sports Medicine Director
Dr. Tanji will be speaking on Concussions – Evaluation and Management of Sports Injury and Head trauma
Dr. Tanji Bio – Dr. Tanji is the go to Concussion Specialist for the new San Juan Play it Safe concussion program for all 14-18 San Juan Boys and Girls programs. He is also a co-developer of MindGame, a Sacramento Consortium of Specialists for Brain and Concussion issues specific to creating a national standard of care for athletes in sports.
We will also have a panel discussion with a couple of San Juan players who have experienced severe concussions with very different causes of the concussion. Jordan Holt from the U18 ECNL team and Lindz Makanna “Mak” Yarnel Williams of the U17 ECNL team.
This event is in lieu of training and attendance is expected for the best interest of the players and parents to have up to date protocol procedures and to remove hearsay so an athlete and parent can make informed decisions about headgear protection and if need be, to make good decisions of their athlete has a concussion from soccer.
The Event will be August 27th from 6-7:30 at the Sacramento Marriott Rancho Cordova (11211 Point East Drive, Rancho Cordova, CA, 95742). NOTE - THIS IS A LOCATION CHANGE FROM THE FUTSAL FACILITY! If anyone has questions they can contact Jeff Rucker at firstname.lastname@example.org.
