Get to know the San Juan Soccer Club in a low-cost, fun, flexible environment!
This program is designed with our youngest youth in mind. The goal is to instill a love of the game of soccer from the players’ earliest experiences on the field, while providing the children with the very basics of the game by professionally trained coaches. There are no tryouts for the U8 Academy, all are welcome. Please note: if we identify a player whose maturity and skills allow them, we may invite them to play up on an older team (space permitting), allowing players to grow and develop within each of their own individual skill levels. Optimum growth occurs on that line between yearning and satisfaction. Each player will be challenged according to their own individual skill level without overwhelming their potential for player development.
The U8 Academy is an introduction for the players and their families to learn about the game and how our soccer programs are run at San Juan. Each player in the U8 Academy will receive a San Juan Academy uniform (2 jerseys, 1 pair of shorts and socks), participate in games, and practice twice weekly with bonus futsal games and practices at our brand new futsal facility opening late 2012.
Practices will be set up with an emphasis on maximum ball touches. The players will learn proper technique creating proper muscle memory movements. Creativity will be encouraged on the field, allowing players to make mistakes and find their own solutions. The technical training will include ball manipulation, 1 v 1 movements, passing, receiving, shielding, and on field decision making skills. Team building aspects of the practices will include learning respect, good sportsmanship, how to work in pairs, and position play within the larger team. The children will also grow in their general fitness, agility, and coordination. They will gain general knowledge of rules and tactics of the game.
This year we are offering two U8 Academy sessions with the flexibility of attending one or both. It is your choice!
One time annual registration: $75
Spring Jamboree: February 15 thru June 2 - $50/month
Fall League: August 15 thru November 1 - $75/ month
